Martell Cognac launches a new limited edition created to mark the Cognac house’s 300th anniversary this year. Martell Premier Voyage is brand’s special blend which debuted in Hong Kong. From there, Martell Premier Voyage will roll out with major travel retailers worldwide through 2015, in locations including Sydney, Los Angeles, Toronto, New York, Amsterdam and Paris. Only 30 of the 300 pieces will be available in travel retail.
In celebration of the house’s tricentenary, Cellar Master Benoît Fil returned to Martell’s roots to create Martell Premier Voyage. The unique new blend contains 18 eaux-de-vie from Martell’s cellars.
Using Jean Martell’s original correspondence, Fil pieced together a map of Jean Martell’s key suppliers from 1735-1742, and began to retrace his footsteps 300 years on. Visiting winegrowers just as Jean Martell did generations before him, Fil sampled eaux-de-vie and met with the winegrowing families whose ancestors had originally supplied the brand’s founder.
After crafting the blend and then ageing it in barrels made from the oak of a 300 year-old tree, Martell Premier Voyage was born. The result? A truly distinctive mix of candied orange peel, blackcurrant, honey and gingerbread on the nose followed by generous amounts of candied fruit and walnuts on the palate and a long and spicy finish.
Each bottle of Martell Premier Voyage will be individually signed, numbered and produced to order.
