The Lotus Exige Scura has debuted at the Tokyo motor show, showing the dark livery of the special edition coupe.
Limited to just 35 cars globally, this Exige evokes a desire to “indulge your dark side”. This is a serious looking car and enhancements to performance and a reduction in weight from the production level Exige S means that the Exige Scura demands to be driven by a serious driver.
New Lotus has a few modifications that add to its nasty look, including front splitter, new air intakes, air scoop and rear wing. Carbon fibre is used extensively in the interior and adds to the look but also, significantly, reduces the weight of the car down to a total of 925 kg.
The name Scura, meaning Dark in Italian, was chosen to underscore the menacing color and material choices of the vehicle. A contrasting high gloss Phantom Black triple stripe runs the length of the car and a carbon fibre front splitter, oil cooler inlet vanes, side airscoops and rear spoiler provide aditional contrast to the velvety matt-black paintwork.
Powered by a 1.8 liter, 4-cylinder, supercharged, VVT-I engine, this car churns out 260bhp. Furthermore, the speedster can accelerate from 0-60mph in just 4 seconds and boasts of a top speed of 152mph. The interior of the Lotus Exige Scura too is dressed in carbon fiber and boasts of carbon fiber seats. The handbrake and gear knob have been given a special anodizing treatment which leaves the metal with a matt finish. All carbon fiber components have been finished in a high-gloss clear lacquer giving the car a sleek and chic look.
Considering the performance on offer, the Exige Scura boasts impressive all around fuel economy with an Official European Combined Cycle figure of 8.5 litres/100 km and 6.5 litres/100km on the Official European Extra Urban Cycle and emissions of 199g/km of CO2.
