Mitsubishi Live Drive
Mitsubishi has unveiled a new test drive process that aims engage the younger crowd by replacing firsthand experience with a remote control feature that allows for interested buyers to pilot a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossover vehicle from across the Internet using nothing more than their personal computers.
The Mitsubishi Live Drive, the world’s first online test drive, used a combination of remote control software and hardware and a unique system interface, allowing participants to take an actual Outlander Sport for a virtual spin on a closed course from their personal computers. From October 15th, residents of the United States who are 18 years and older with a valid driver’s license, can signing on the Outlander Sport microsite to get a code that can be used to queue for the live test drive.
The Mitsubishi Online Test Drive program will begin on November 1st and will feature a $18,495 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport equipped with multiple point of view video cameras and electronic receivers and servo motors synced with a sophisticated GPS system that tracks the car’s every movement and automatically takes control of the vehicle if it is driven outside the boundaries of the course.
