Iron Horse Vineyards announced the release of their 2010 vintage of Rainbow Cuvee. This is brand’s second vintage of this special cuvee. Like all of their bubblies, it is estate bottled which means they use only their own grapes and vintage which requires three plus years of aging. What makes this cuvee unique is the dosage, 22 mls of a LEX (liquor d’expedition) made from barrel fermented Rued Chardonnay and 10 mls of a pre-fermentation maceration Pinot Noir picked at sparkling Brix 21, allowed ot sit on the skins for color and bouquet.
Production is very limited, only 250 cases will be available at the winery and online in the Shop Wines tab, priced at $58 per bottle. There may be a few retailers who special order it, but it will not be in general distribution.
2010 Wedding Cuvee is ranked No. 5 in Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Wines of the Year.
