As was recently announced, two days ago in Germany was held the official promotion of the new Mercedes GLC (the successor to the current model of the GLK which sales appeared in 2008). Orders will start to receive soon, the car dealers will have the car from 12 September, and prices in Germany start from €44,506 ($50,288). Also, it was confirmed GLC Coupe version, announced withthe recent GLC Coupe concept car.
As they say in the factory announcement, Mercedes-Benz with GLC presents the second generation mid-range SUV vehicle, where GLC reserves outstanding off-road capability of its predecessors and combines them with a completely new design.
Mercedes also states that GLC raises comfort and agility to a whole new level with innovative technology AIR BODY CONTROL, unique segment, then DYNAMIC SELECT technology and permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC. With state of the art security systems and improved efficiency the new GLC setting standards in its segment. Compared to its predecessor, fuel consumption is reduced by 19% percent.
However, Mercedes GLC (internal code X253) is longer, wider and taller than the current GLK, but it is 80 kg lighter.
With a longer wheelbase, it is expected and more spacious interior, which is normally got better materials in relation to the GLK. Also,the volume of the luggage is greater which now amounts to 550 liters.
As predicted, there’s also a hybrid version, which is the Mercedes GLC 350 E 4MATIC, which combines gasoline of 211Hp and electric motor (combined fuel consumption per factory data is only 2.6 l / 100 km).
It should be noted, 9-speed automatic transmission, air suspension, as well as personalization packs: Pack AMG Line, Exclusive Line Pack and Pack Offroad Line.
Later, the offer will be extended, including the GLC AMG variant, probably with 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine and aero body kit, larger alloy wheels, sports suspension, stronger brakes, sport exhaust system and sleek interior.
Finally, there is reference to and version GLC 450 AMG Sport, and most likely with a 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine with 367Hp and 520 Nm.
