Andy Warhol is one of the greatest figures of popular culture, the American painter, director, writer, actor. In the 1960s Warhol was one of the most successful advertising illustrator and became one of America’s most famous artists. Warhol had done previously impossible, he combined the art with commercial art, and created popular culture, pop art. His first paintings depict characters from cartoons and advertisements, which is done by hand.
Later, Warhol their subjects looking at brands, stars and dollars and exclude any trace of hands. Warhol also painted the famous American products such as the “Coca-Cola“, and a popular and well-known figures such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Elvis Presley. Nowadays, on November 12 at Christie’s auction his painting of an oversized Coke bottle, titled as Coca-Cola (3) is expected reach $60 million. Coca-Cola (3) was painted in 1962 by Warhol on a white 6-foot-tall canvas. The auction will feature a variety of postwar and contemporary art, but the Warhol’s Coca-Cola painting, will be the main star.
