My name is Bond, James Bond. When you say this, it won’t cost you a cent, but if you want to be a real James Bond and drive the famous Aston Martin, it will cost you quite. One of the four original Aston Martins used in the James Bond series is up for sale.
Although the vehicle never appeared on screen with Sean Connery, this 1965 Aston Martin DB5 was the franchise’s official promotional vehicle and the only remaining DB5 to contain all of the official Bond gadgets featured in the movies. This particular DB5 comes equipped with Q’s spy gadgets including the revolving number plates, imitation machine guns, a bulletproof shield, tracking device, an oil slick sprayer, a nail spreader, the famous ejector seat with control button in the gear stick, and even the tire-slicing device.
Under the hood is a 4-liter engine that delivers 280 bhp to enable it accelerate at a top speed of 150 mph.
Priced at whopping $4.7 million, the car is being offered for private sale by Britain-based Aston Martin specialist RS Williams, on the occasion of British automaker’s 100th anniversary.
In London in 2010 the Aston Martin DB5 driven by Sean Connery in Goldfinger and Thunderball was sold for a $4.1 million. We’ll see whether the offered price will be too high, or collectors of this prestigious brands do not care about the money when it comes to Aston Martin.
