After three years of rumours and speculation, Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster has finally surfaced the web, just a couple days before official launch. Although, its official presentation scheduled for later on this week, a website dedicated to the car, v12vantageroadster.com, had the honor and happiness to publish first images and details of Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster, ahead of schedule.
Just like the coupe version, the V12 Vantage Roadster will be powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine that delivers an amazing 510 HP (380 kW) and 420 lbs-ft ((570Nm) of torque, which should see it accelerate from 0-100km/h in around 4.5 seconds. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard, and it’s not yet known if Aston Martin will also offer the car with a Touchtronic automatic transmission as well.
Unlike the coupe, however, the new roadster will get a number of modifications such as a revised rear deck lid with a re-designed spoiler, a redesigned front air gurney, and modified front and rear suspensions. These changes were made in order to ensure that the open-top version would have the same aerodynamic results as the coupe. Carbon fiber brakes, carbon fiber mirror caps, rear lamp with carbon fiber accents and new alloy wheels are some of the new external features expected to be seen. Internally there will be Aston Martin logos with black backgrounds, lower center console, glass switches instead of black plastic, carbon fiber center console and carbon fiber gearshift base plate.
Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster will be limited to only 101 units, which makes the car almost as exclusive as the One-77 and the V12 Zagato supercars. Production will commence in the fourth quarter of this year, with U.K. pricing said to start at 150,000 pounds (approximately $234,930), with the cars to be built over a nine-month period. So, if you want one, don’t waste your time and hurry up to contact your local Aston Martin retailer, bearing in mind that the Aston Martin One-77 sold like hot cakes!
