It’s been six long years since Bowers & Wilkins has updated its 800 Series of high-end speakers and now, the British AV manufacturer has finally got out of its shell to present us with the 800 Series Diamond this year, which is a set of premium speakers for the cream of the crop.
The already un-rivalled levels of performance are boosted by the implementation of Bowers & Wilkins’ famous diamond tweeter technology throughout the whole range, including the new 805 Diamond, a speaker that brings diamond tweeters into the range of more discerning listeners than ever before.
The diamond dome tweeter is now a quad-magnet design, which increases efficiency and improves the dynamic range of the top-end performance. A new surround material aids dispersion characteristics, and provides a more stable stereo image while increasing openness.
It also incorporates Nautilus tube-loaded tweeters, Matrix enclosures, and the unique sphere/tube heads.
At the other end of the tonal scale, bass performance has also improved with the introduction of a new dual magnet motor system, which utilises powerful neodymium magnets. This innovative design improves the linearity of the bass drivers’ performance, therefore reducing harmonic distortion.
All of these features don’t come cheap for sure, Bowers & Wilkins never did. Available in Rosenut, Cherrywood, and Piano Black, Bowers & Wilkins 800 Series Diamond Speakers have prices starting from $6,200 per pair. If you want the all-consuming version, then you will be looking to spend $31,00 per pair.
