As we already announced, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Start Winemaking Business. But what’s new is that some 6,000 bottles of the couple’s Miraval Rose 2012 have been sold within five hours of going on sale on Thursday (March 7). So, if you planned to buy a bottle of Miraval rosé wine from a French vineyard owned by Hollywood stars, you’re too late.
“The sale started at 9 a.m., and all the bottles were sold out by 2 p.m.,” said a spokesperson for the Vitabella, the public relations firm representing the vineyard. The vineyard’s website also said that orders for the 2012 vintage were now closed.
The 2012 vintage was priced at €105 ($138) per case of six bottles for the Internet sale. Another 100,000 bottles have been sold to wine merchants and restaurants, that will go on sale later this month.
The Hollywood superstars teamed up with Marc Perrin, veteran Gallic wine family to create glass of their own rosé, made from grapes grown at their vast £35 million Riviera property. They also helped to design the bottle for the first Chateau Miraval product.
Marc Perrin also spoke of the valley location that the 2012 vintage comes from. “This is a magical place that we traverse from one end to the other to discover exceptional plots. The valley, property of the château, offers an unmatched eco-system and gives the wines a unique style in terms of freshness and elegance.”
