Taiwanese airline EVA Air brought its Hand-in-Hand Hello Kitty Jet in Paris, marking the themed aircraft’s inaugural launch into Europe. Jet with its colourfully liveried Boeing 777-300ER was welcomed with a launch ceremony at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport as part of the iconic Sanrio character’s 40th birthday. Hello Kitty fans can say bonjour to the nonstop route between Paris’ Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).
Everything on the jet is emblazoned with the remarkably simple but iconic image: a bow-tied, three-whiskered, mouth-less white cat. Even, when check-in, passengers receive Hello Kitty boarding passes. Also, everything inside the jets, but literally everything is Hello Kitty – themed, from the pillows, headrests, snack bags and luggage tags. Even, the food – the fruit, butter and vegetables are shaped like Hello Kitty’s face or her tiny hair bow. In total, the quirky aircraft features more than 100 in-flight service items decorated with the Japanese cartoon characters.
The Hand-in-Hand Jet has proven to be popular among travellers worldwide since its launch on regular Taipei to Los Angeles service in September last year.
