If you’re fun of 20’s fashion, this new menswear collection by Brooks Brothers is definitely for you. This 195-year-old gentleman’s house teamed up with costume designer Catherine Martin to create a limited edtion Great Gatsby inspired menswear collection, which coincide with the release of Baz Luhrmann’s hotly-anticipated film on May 10.
The art-deco inspired range, which reflects “the dreamlike world of pristine green lawns and lavish parties depicted in the original 1925 novel” consists of formalwear and more relaxed daywear options, including tuxedos, suits and shirts to shoes, walking sticks, suspenders, bow ties, and more pieces.
So, if you want to look just like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton and others, you’ll need deep pockets as prices range from $55 for a silk tie, to $848 for a tuxedo jacket. Two full Brooks Brothers suits from the mainline can cost as little as $999.
“It was this most basic and fundamental connection that has made our collaboration so authentic. Brooks Brothers is mentioned several times in Fitzgerald’s writings as a representation of the ultimate gentleman’s purveyor of fine clothing to the American man of distinction”, said Ms Martin, who is married to the film’s director, Mr Lurhmann.
