Riding in style is important for any head of state. But aside from making a statement, presidents and prime ministers need a vehicle that can protect them in case there’s trouble. That’s why the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, will put his trust in a new bulletproof and blast resistant Audi A8L Security limousine.
Based on the long-wheelbase variant of the A8, the armoured Audi A8 comes with standard 6-liter W12 engine that produces 450 horsepower with a Quattro all-wheel drive. Unlike just about any A8 on the planet though, this car is going to come with some state-of-the-art features specifically included to cater to the safety of the prime minister. There’s a B6+ and B7 ballistic protection, a fire-suppression system, run-flat tires and explosive charges to free the doors in case of shockwaves.
And if prime minister Netanyahu wants to relax in his bulletproof A8 limo, he can do so by enjoying the added DVD entertainment system and the humidor in case he’d like to light up a stogie (Netanyahu’s a known cigar aficionado).
The car is said to cost around $700,000 from the factory, but add the country’s incredibly high taxes, which the government still has to pay, but not on the security equipment, and you’re looking at a $1 million.
