LaPlaya Beach Resort, a 189-room, waterfront, luxury resort on the Gulf of Mexico in Naples, Florida and LaPlaya Beach Club, a private members club located at the resort, have been sold for $185.5 million. Pebblebrook Hotel Trust purchased a 47-year-old North Naples landmark resort and announced that LaPlaya will continue to be managed by Noble House Hotels & Resorts under a new operating agreement.
This luxury, full-service resort sits on 6 acres of beachfront property surrounded by stunning views of the Gulf of Mexico and Vanderbilt Bay. The resort was originally built in 1968 and underwent transformative $54.0 million renovation and expansion in 2002, adding an additional tower, the private beach club and a large parking structure. Decorated with awards from Condé Nast Traveler, Wine Spectator and Travel + Leisure, the resort caters to an upscale clientele from around the world.
The resort features the BALEEN Restaurant, a 4,500-square-foot day spa, 8,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, two resort-style swimming pools, a 23-slip marina and the La Playa Beach Club, a prestigious private-membership club that generates income from membership sales, annual dues and ancillary revenue from club members throughout the property. LaPlaya’s 18-hole golf club will continue to serve LaPlaya’s guests and members; however, it was not included in the sale.
In addition to the acquisition of the resort, the Company also purchased the LaPlaya Beach Club (the “Club”), which has grown to become one of the most notable private clubs in Florida. The Club boasts over 800 current active members and provides a club members’ private dining room, private pool cabanas, and an exclusive agreement with the LaPlaya Golf Course to provide Club members and hotel guests with golf access and privileges.
