Frank Pollaro designed one-of-a-kind Centenary Table in honor of Napa Valley’s Robert Mondavi Winery which celebrate their 100 anniversary. Father of the American fine wine industry loved good food, art, and a nice bottle of wine, so Pollaro decided to repay him with these unique pieces of furniture. It is going to be made in limited edition in just five pieces with a price of $75,000.
“This project is very dear to me as one of my first memories in wine education started with a bottle of Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve,” says Frank Pollaro.
Made to seat eight people, the table features 100 round inlays around the edging, symbolizing the 100 years since Mondavi’s birth.
Each inlay has the diameter of a wine cork and are made of persimmon wood, a favorite fruit of Mondavi which is grown at the winery. The table’s base is segmented into six sides, meant to represent the six main grape varietals grown in the To Kalon Vineyard at Mondavi’s winery: Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot.
The six sides are accented with hand carved words (Food, Wine, Art, Family, Friends, and Passion) that the winemaker held dear.
