British car manufacturer Morgan Motor Company is known for staying true to making hand-built vehicles with traditional design. Even as times change and more buyers are looking for a more modern exclusive look, Morgan is staying true to its grassroots with the introduction of the EvaGT, which made its debut Sunday, August 15, at the 60th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The EvaGT is built on a modified version of the aluminum chassis featured on the Aero Supersports and is powered by a BMW 3-liter straight six engine that uses mono twin turbo and direct injection technologies and develops a total of 306 hp and a maximum torque of 295 lb-ft. It’s mated to a six speed automatic gearbox or to a six speed manual transmission. The engine sprints the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, while top speed goes up to 170 mph.
Believe it or not, the company also hopes to make the car is efficient as possible, mileage is currently rated at 40 mpg which would make it one of the most fuel efficient performance cars on the road today. Morgan will be taking orders for the EvaGT with a £5000 ($7,710) from prospective clients. The first 100 cars of a limited run are planned to begin production in mid 2012. Full pricing details will be announced later.
