Salvador Dali joins a few famous to be immortalized by Italy’s most prestigious pen manufacturer Montegrappa. After Modigliani (2008) And Stradivari (2007), Dali is the third artist in Montegrappa’s Genio Creative Series.
This is great writing instrument which depicts work of the world famous surrealist artist. That is particulary evident through the silver elephant which represents the protection and the force which he had towards his wife Gala.
The silver edition pen is made of mediterranean blue celluloid, while for gold edition was used malachite green. When the pen is opened, a quote from the autobiography, The Secret Life of Salvador Dalí, is inscribed on the sterling silver inner barrel.
Only 1000 sterling silver fountain pens and 989 rollerball pens will be realised (1989 – the year that Dali died). Also Montegrappa will issue 19 solid gold rollerball pens and 61 fountain pens that represent the year he created the 1961 jewellery, The Space Elephant. The pens are packaged, appropriately, in an egg-shaped container, in recognition of another Dalíesque image. For the Dali the egg symbolised hope and love.
