Thanks to Jean Todt, Richard Mille met Michelle Yeoh, the international renowned actress and through their mutual passion for watches they became closer which led to a professional collaboration. Richard suggested to Michelle that she create and design a specific women’s watch, because he was impressed by her artistic talents, her knowledge and understanding of women’s tastes and her natu ral sense of luxury. Michelle Yeoh took up the offer and worked with Melanie Treton-Monceyron, Artistic director of Richard Mille and thus was created the RM051 Phoenix Limited Edition Watch for women.
The timepiece was design into the world of haute horlogerie. It has diamonds and and encapsulates the movement in harmony with the barrel, power reserve and tourbillon. Michelle Yeoh is Malaysian and for this chose the phoenix as symbol. The phoenix was the Empress’s emblem and known for being the kin dest of birds. Phoenix has an unsurpassed beauty and it is symbol of grace. The mythical phoenix has been etched in a rather mystical shape of its own, with the structure in 18K white gold embellished with cut diamonds. Another attribute of the RM 051 is its black onyx baseplate, a gemstone known for its properties in absorbing negative energy and producing emotional stability as well as inspiration.
