In 1942 she was placed into Naval service and renamed USS Dauntless. After the war she served as a steam ship training vessel for 18 years after which she went throught various owners,finally ending up in France and left in increasing disrepair.
From 1997 to 2003 Delphine underwent a huge restoration project. She came to life again back to her original glory thanks to investigation and extensive historical research by her owner’s daughter. In 2004, she received the annual showboats award for best refit.
