Zaha Hadid, Pritzker Prize winning (2004) London-based, UK licensed architect and world-renowned designer, educator, and fashion icon is the latest celebrity architect to design a building along NYC’s famous High Line park. The luxury condo at 520 West 28th Street in Chelsea will be her first high-rise apartment building in New York City offering the best of everything. For this project, she worked in close collaboration with a New York City-based firm, Ismael Leyva Architects, who functioned as the architect for this project.
Set to open by early 2017, the apartments overlook the High Line and midtown Manhattan will come with a slew of high-class amenities. The 39-apartment complex will rise to 11 stories — with 21 floors that interlock like a jigsaw puzzle.
Within each unit, Hadid’s flair for sleek, contemporary aesthetics is apparent. For example, the reservable lounge and entertainment suite with fully equipped chef’s kitchen flows onto the High Line terrace for seamless indoor and outdoor entertainment.
The unique kitchen island includes sculpted white marble and high-gloss formed millwork, integrating form with the high performing functionality of Boffi’s exclusive top-of-the-line Xila collection.
Hand-selected white marble is contrasted against a unique black crosscut Nero Marquinia marble feature wall and a freestanding six-foot sculptural bathtub by Teuco Guzzini, with fixtures by Dornbracht.
A dedicated wellness level features a state-of-the-art fitness center created by innovative fitness specialists, The Wright Fit.
Apartments range in size from 1,691 square feet to 6,618 square feet, with two- to five-bedroom options. The building includes a 75-foot-long pool and a gym, along with a spa featuring a cold plunge pool, waterfall showers, a sauna, a steam room, lounges, and massage treatment beds. The building also boasts a private 12-seat IMAX screening room.
